Recreation U4 Little Comets

The U4 Little Comets program offers players an environment to become introduced to the sport of soccer.  The sessions will be very basic and focused on FUN and will include basic introduction to balance, coordination, ball familiarization and social skills.  The sessions will be delivered by the U4 Instructor with the support of a parent or guardian.  No official teams are formed but players will play small sided games and in this case players are grouped to make 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4 games.

Due to the young age of players, it is possible to attend and have a trial go but you must first register online.

Referee Coaches
Rules Coaches assist in restarting a ball after a goal is scored or if the ball leaves the field of play. There are no referees in this age group. Coaches guide players on throw-ins or goal-kicks. Coaches also guide players on the build up line (Retreat Line, half field). Players on the defending team must move back to the half-line when the attacking team is taking a goal-kick. Sub on the fly. One coach from each team is allowed on the field. Coaches should stay out of the main game action and guide players from the side or rear of the game field. Coaches should keep close track of time in regards to the warm-up and 10 minute quarters. A 1-2 minute break should be taken between quarters.

The focus for this age group is FUN! Please do not allow teams to run up the score on another team that is less developed. If a team is up by more than 4 goals, we ask that you communicate with the other coach and use methods to avoid increasing an unbalanced score. The team that is scoring easily could put it's strongest player on the team that is struggling, or a stronger team could position it's most skillful players in the defense to avoid running up the score. Please remember that the players in this age group are 4-5 years old and we want their first experiences with soccer to be FUN!
