Substitutions are made on the fly. One coach from each team is allowed on the field. Coaches should stay out of the main game action and guide players from the side or rear of the field.
Coaches should keep close track of time for warm-ups and the 10-minute quarters. A 2-minute break should be taken between quarters.
Development Focus
The focus for this age group is fun. Please do not allow teams to run up the score against a less-developed team.
If a team is ahead by more than 4 goals, coaches should communicate and use methods to avoid increasing an unbalanced score. For example, the stronger team may move its most skillful players to defense, or a strong player may be placed with the team that is struggling.
Please remember that players in this age group are 4-5 years old, and we want their first soccer experience to be fun and positive.
