CSC Technical Director Press Release!

Travel Soccer Tryouts begin this Wednesday, May 10, at the Culpeper Sports Complex. Dan Bales, Technical Director for CSC, is excited for the growth of soccer in Culpeper. “It’s been tremendous to see how our programs are growing. Recreation soccer is thriving, and we’re adding more features and opportunities in all our soccer programming.”

On the travel soccer side, almost all CSC teams are placing at the top of their divisions in competitive leagues that cover VA, MD, and DC. “The coaching staff and players are performing at a level that is simply fantastic. The commitment to becoming better, on and off the field, is something that I recognize in our coaches and players on a daily basis. I’m very excited for the future.”

During his two years with the club, Bales has focused on providing more programs to the soccer community in Culpeper. “For recreation players, we’ve offered skill training sessions with our Recreation DOC, goal keeper training, and winter training. For travel players, we’re adding a preseason-conditioning program and group skill-training program in 2017/2018. That’s in addition to our regular GK training, speed and agility, and winter training.” For players aged 7-9 years old, the CSC Academy has been completely revamped this past year, and provides a strategic training approach to develop young players into future travel players. “Coach Barona (CSC Academy Director) worked to build this program all year, and the results have been amazing. The player progress from August till now is very significant, and his efforts to get new coaches involved and grow this program lays the foundation for continued success.”

Culpeper Soccer Club was recently named Virginia Club of the Week by the governing soccer body in the state, Virginia Youth Soccer Association, which demonstrates the commitment to soccer excellence in Culpeper. CSC also formed a partnership in early 2017 with soccer powerhouse VSA in Haymarket VA. This has created even more opportunity for exceptional youth players in Culpeper to participate in elite soccer and college identification programs outside the normal CSC travel programs. Bales said, “I can’t wait to see new and returning players at tryouts over the next two weeks. For me, this journey is about providing more opportunities for our youth players, and what we’re accomplishing is truly special. I can’t be more grateful to the CSC Board, coaches, players, families, and staff for their support while we continue to build such an exciting soccer environment in Culpeper.”
